I'm ready to waste most of the days away in bed or eating or doing more sports, or just hanging out. It's great that I can finally watch some proper t.v. Been wanting to catch up with 24 and House for ages! Perhaps I will make my way down to JIS to visit Casey, since you peeps don't have a mid term break! :P Anyhoots,
The biggest question I've been asking myself till yesterday:
What's keeping me in Chemistry??
Well lets start with what is a luminesce/luminescent/lumen (I'm not sure if i'm gramatically correct?;p) reaction, and the simple explaination is that, we all know the basic chemistry, that some chemical reactions give out heat, well a luminsece reaction gives out LIGHT! So basically we were all shown how this reaction works. Taking some bleach, sodium hydroxide and lumen solution ( I think that's what it's called) Mrs. mixed it up and SHA-ZAM!!! The mixed solution poofs up into a glowing solution XD As we pretty much darkened the room it was so amazing and cool!! It was like WOW, and despite having such a horrible time of 80 minutes of practical without any results, this kinda lifted my mood up. Guess that's the coolest thing you'll ever discover in Chemistry, mixing solutions and unfolding their reactions.
So I was unable to find a proper picture of the exact experiment we did, but here's a decent picture that I managed to find. Not as cool as the blue colour light that illuminated with the bleach, but it's a taste of what we saw. I had no photos because I would probably be expelled by now:P
So there you have it; one of the beauties of Chemistry.
